It's Getting There...

Wow- it's been a month since I posted on here! Where has the summer gone?! Sorry I wasn't here posting every week like I said I would... Summer time is a busy time! My sister got married. (Yay!) Weddings are so fun but they take up quite a lot of time. Anyway, while I haven't been posting I have been in my classroom and I'm so excited to show you all the work that has been done. Stay Tuned! Pictures will be up soon!

20 Things I'm Thinking While Preparing My Classroom

1. My classroom is going to be great.... Like Pinterest viral great.

2. Is Pinterest viral a thing? I feel like it should be. I should probably go look a Pinterest for a few minutes to get inspired.

3. Where did the last 7 hours go? Do have carpel tunnel now or 'pin it' finger?

4. Enough distractions! Time to get back on track! Super awesome classroom... Ready... GO!

5. Where do I even start?!

6. I have so many books! Who needs this many books? I should get rid of some... I can't get rid of any of them! I love them all.. Now I'm off to buy more book bins.

7. Ok! Book bins are labeled, organized, and all the books are put away. Yay!

8. They will never look this good ever again.

9. Where did this stack of books come from?! They were all put away! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!

10. Alright. All the books are actually put away now.

11. My desk looks weird in that corner. I bet it would look way better on the other side of the room.

12. Nope. I was wrong! It looks way worse over here... Back to the other corner for you my friend.

13. Well I just spent an entire day rearranging everything until it was right back where I started.... Great.

14. There is no way this will be done in time. My kiddos are going to walk into a half done classroom and think I'm crazy.

15. I'm just going to start with something simple... Label everything in the classroom.

16. Well this is a very print rich environment....

17. Time to attempt some kind of DIY for the classroom! IT FAILED MISERABLY! Clean it up. Hide the evidence. Tell no one of the failed craft.

18. Call in some volunteers- reluctant or willing. Beg them to tape and staple and laminate until their fingers are numb.

19. Add a little something to make it homey and cozy.

20. Holy Guacamole. It's finally done.

My Classroom Has Been Cleaned!

I have to say a huge thank you to our summer cleaning crew. They are super awesome and my room has already been cleaned!! This means starting Monday I can get into my room and start getting it ready. Whoo hoo!! I snapped a few pictures to show you what I'm working with.

I'm moving from third grade to first grade so I'm starting over in a new room and with a new classroom theme. I can't wait to get started. Wish me luck! :)

My Reading Lesson Plan Format

My Reading Lesson Plan

Here's the format I use when I create my reading lesson plans. The link below takes you to a blank copy of this format. It's pretty simple but it works for me. I hope it's useful to you as you're planning for next year.

Well I did promise a freebie...

Weekly Reading Log

I created a weekly reading log for students to fill out as part of their homework for the week. There is an option for fiction and nonfiction. I may make one that combines the two so the kiddos can mix and match books in the week. I hope you like this reading log and find it useful in your own classroom.
